17-Year-Old Found Dead in Sagamihara Riverbed; Police Open Murder Inquiry
The body of a high school student from Zama City was discovered on a Kanagawa riverbed after she left home to meet an acquaintance and never returned.
Japanese police launched a murder investigation after the body of a 17-year-old high school girl was found on the morning of June 11 in a riverbed in the Minami Ward of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The discovery prompted immediate homicide inquiries by local authorities.
Investigators confirmed the deceased was a female high school student who lived in nearby Zama City, also in Kanagawa Prefecture. Officials did not publicly identify the victim or disclose how she died, citing the ongoing investigation.
